But now, the actor has given a direct public response on his official Twitter handle and revealed why he did not respond to Anurag’s request to star in ‘Kennedy’. The actor revealed in his long tweet that he simply didn’t get any mail or msg from Anurag as he had changed his phone number and Email-id two years before.

His tweet reads “Dear @anuragkashyap72. Just revisiting our conversation from over a year ago for the sake of our friends and well wishers on social media. When I heard from another actor that you had tried to reach me for this film & that you felt I hadn’t responded to you, I called you myself immediately and explained that I hadn’t gotten any mail or msg from you as the mail id that you had contacted me on was no longer active and my number had changed almost 2 years before that.As I said during that phone call, I’m very excited for your film Kennedy and even more so because it has my name.
I wish you great times ahead.
Lots of love
Chiyaan Vikram
aka Kennedy”

For the unversed, Anurag had revealed in his interview with film critic Anupama Chopra, that he had written this film keeping Chiyaan Vikram in mind. Anurag was so fixated on Vikram that he named the project ‘Kennedy’ which is Vikram’s nickname. But the actor failed to respond, so he approached Rahul Bhatt for the role.

Written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, ‘Kennedy’ stars Rahul Bhatt, Sunny Leone, and Abhilash Thapliyal in pivotal roles. This is the second project between Kashyap and Rahul Bhatt after their noir- thriller Ugly (2014). The new film ‘Kennedy’ which is set to premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, revolves around an insomniac ex-cop, who suffers from insomnia and operates at night.
