Mega TV Show Ramayan Breaks All Records, As it Becomes World’s Most-watched serial
In the current lockdown, the Information and Broadcast Minister Mr. Prakash Jawdekar had a couple of announcements to make. These included showcasing the mythological TV shows like Ramanayan and Mahabharat. The former show has been making news ever since it was seen coming on air on TV. It was aired since last month and soon turned the most watched TV show by 16th of April with the audience reaching to 7.7 crore on DD claimed the ministry on its Twitter Handle.
The tweet said that the show has been on air since March 28 with public demand. It added saying that when the show came for the first time, it seems to have broken all records in terms of popularity as it was repeated once again. The show was produced by Ramanand Sagar and it carried a total 78 episodes. The show was based on Valmiki’s Ramayana and Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas as well. It used to be aired from January 25, 1987 to July 31, 1988 and was broadcast once in a week on Sunday, at 9.30 a.m.
During that time as well, the show has remained in the news for the maximum TRP in the world. Till June 2003, went on to get its entry into the Limca Book of Records as “the most watched mythological TV show in the world. Interestingly today when the people had other entertainment channels to enjoy, yet the mythological show has received a huge amount of response in the media.
