With Farah Khan’s entry in Big Boss as the host of the show, it gets a total make over. But wait, she is here to replace none other than Salman Khan who made oodles of difference to the show since the time he associated himself with it. Will Farah be as effective as Salman remains to be seen. But we know that Farah is not new to the television industry though she has not been as popular as stars like Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan or Salman Khan. Trend of Bollywood personalities playing hosts or giving special appearances on Television is not new. Lets take a look at Farah’s career on small screen so far.
The successful and most sought after choreographer Farah Khan , stepped into film direction with Main Hoon Na. In the same year she also became a Tv personality. She was one of the three judges for the maiden edition of Indian Idol on Zee. She sat among Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam in the judging panel of the show that got immensely popular. Farah was noted for her terrific sense of humour and sporty spirit. The following year, when the second edition came, the trio who were immensely popular by then, were repeated. Later in the Sony television show , Jhalakh Dikhlaja , she once again joined the judging panel with Shilpa Shetty and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Farah was cool tempered and encouraging for all. She had a contagious lively spirit.
With Reality shows following each other, Farah was definitely the most favourite judge on TV. In 2008, Jo Jeeta Wahi Super Star, the talent hunt on Star Plus recorded high viewership with Mandira Bedi presenting it. Farah and music director Vishal Shekhar were the judges for the show. Although when the sequel of the show came she was not repeated.
In 2008, came the fourth edition of Nach Baliye, she was back on screen with friends Arjun Rampal and Karizma Kapoor. The show recorded terrific TRPs and got highly popular. In the coming years she co judged Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega with Anu Malik. Later in 2014, she was back on the show in its 4th edition.
Being an ace choreographer , she associated herself with dance shows like Just Dance and Dance Ke Superkids. In 2012, Karan Johar and Kiron Kherr joined her on the judging panel in India’s Got Talent season 4.
In 2013, she returned to Nach Baliye with Terrence Lewis and Shilpa Shetty co judging the popular dance show with her. 2014 got lucky for Farah. She judged the fifth season of Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega with Anu Malik.
By the end of 2014, she began her shoot for Big Boss. Her episodes will go on soon and it will be called Big Boss Halla Bol.
