What foreign media is talking about Netflix’s new Narcos Sacred Games?

Sacred Games

Sacred Games is India’s first series over Netflix, which has been finally released recently in not less than 200 nations and it has around 130 million subscribers till last Friday. The response to the show has been overwhelming to this crime drama, which is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap. It has an interesting star cast, which include Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The Web TV series is based on the novel of Vikram Chandra with the same title. So far, the web series has received positive reviews by most of the critics giving people enough reason to catch it. With positive words about the series, it would be interesting to know what the foreign media has to say about it.
Sacred Games
This is not the first time when Netflix has chosen a similar genre web series, reacting to the Indian series, the Mike Hale a known critic based in New York says that the series is a fair approximation of the type of multigenerational, with lightly fantastical people from different continents including Asia, Africa and other places, similar novels based in US would soon reach into American best-seller lists. However, he then said that the series with its picaresque, literary flavor and expansive storytelling may not suit the American audiences. The Hollywood Reporter in its review said that the Web Series from India has several storytelling quirks, which the audiences would be likely going to enjoy and these are distracted with family story running in the country.
Tim Goodman, while talking about the web series said that the translated version of the show is likely to lose the essence it has in its original dialogue in Hindi, hence the American audience would barely care about subscribing the show there. However, he also said that the story of the TV show has been timelessly American that people if they finally catch the film is likely to get an immediate connection. In a sense most of the reviews about the show has been positive except the one by IndieWire which says that the tangibility of the show are undone with the overbearing violence that come around with this series.
