Allu Arjun Reveals Plans to Transform Pushpa into a Franchise: ‘You Can Certainly Anticipate Part 3

Allu Arjun made waves at the Berlin Film Festival, where he unveiled plans for the third installment of his blockbuster film Pushpa. Titled Pushpa 2: The Rule, the sequel is set to hit the screens in 2024, featuring Allu Arjun reprising his iconic role as Pushpa. Amid the buzz surrounding the forthcoming sequel, Allu Arjun hinted at the prospect of expanding the franchise with additional films centered on his character.

Speaking to Variety at the ongoing Berlin International Film Festival, Allu Arjun expressed his vision for Pushpa, stating, “You can definitely expect part three; we do want to make it a franchise and we have exciting ideas for the lineup.” The film’s presence at the European Film Market during the festival underscores its quest to attract international audiences, reflecting Allu Arjun’s eagerness to gauge the global reception of Indian cinema.

Delving into the feedback received from both Indian and overseas audiences, Allu Arjun noted the striking similarity in their reception, emphasizing the resonance of the film’s candidness and performances with viewers across diverse demographics. He remarked, “I didn’t find much of a difference [between] the way the urban Indians have watched the film and the people overseas. And I think urban Indians are similar to global audiences.”

In 2021, Pushpa 1: The Rise emerged as a colossal blockbuster, propelling Allu Arjun into the pan-India spotlight. The film showcased his portrayal of Pushpa, a laborer-turned-red sanders smuggler, and garnered widespread acclaim, culminating in Allu Arjun’s National Film Award for Best Actor. This resounding success has set the stage for the eagerly anticipated sequel and the potential expansion of the Pushpa franchise, marking a significant milestone in Allu Arjun’s cinematic journey.
