AMRAPALI GUPTA: I have learned that Id-ul-Zuha is a festival that is celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety in India and the world. I have seen that my muslim friends wear new clothes and attend an open-air prayer meeting during Id-ul-Zuha. They may sacrifice a sheep or goat and share the meat with family members, neighbors and the poor. Many feel that they have a duty to ensure that all can enjoy the meat based meal during this holiday. “Eid Mubarak” to everyone.
RAHUL RAJ SINGH: Salam Waliqum, As per my knowledge during Eid al-Adha, Muslims with the holy rituals means to sacrifice an animal such as a sheep or a goat. My muslim friend have shared with me once that, they are supposed to eat one-third of the meat, share one-third with friends or neighbors and donate one-third to the needy. They also buy new clothes, exchange gifts and visit family, friends and neighbors. This is they way they enjoy the fest. EID MUBARAK to all my friends around. Allah Hafiz!
KUNAL SINGH: As per me, I have seen eid celebration at my friend’s place. Goat or sheep meat is important for the celebration. I have been served a common dessert during Eid. It was maamoul, crumbly cookies traditionally filled with chopped nuts or date paste, pressed into molds with intricate designs or looped into O’s like small donuts and dusted with powdered sugar. It was really tasty. Hope to enjoy it again. Eid Mubakak friends!
MAHIKA SHARMA : As much I have explore, Muslims friends around the world believe that Allah (God) commanded Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Ibrahim followed God’s orders, but his son was replaced by a sheep at the last moment. Muslims celebrate this at Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Adha is called Id-ul-Adha in Arabic and Bakr-Id in the Indian subcontinent, because of the tradition of sacrificing a goat or “bakri” in Urdu. Wish my friends “Eid Mubarak”
TANYA SHARMA: During my academics, I have learned Eid al-Adha marks the end of hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca that able-bodied, devout Muslims are supposed to make at least once in their lifetimes as one of the five pillars of Islam. It starts the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month on the Islamic calendar.The Muslims enjoy the fest with Goat/sheep meat and also share it with people around.
