Popular singer KK’s autopsy to be conducted in Kolkata today

On May 31, popular singer KK, real name Krishnakumar Kunnath, died of a heart arrest. He apparently slumped on stage in Kolkata, West Bengal, and was transported to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was 53 years old at the time. The tragic death of KK has sent shockwaves across the country. He was a multi-talented performer with a long list of hits to his credit.

Following the singer’s death, a case of unnatural death was filed at the New Market police station, according to sources. On Tuesday, KK performed until 8:30 p.m. in the Nazrul Mancha auditorium. He became ill unexpectedly and returned to his hotel. He was transported to the CMRI hospital in Kolkata as his condition deteriorated at the Grand Hotel, where he was pronounced dead.

According to sources, the autopsy would take place on Wednesday at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. The police will also examine the hotel’s CCTV footage and speak with the personnel and event organizers. KK was supposed to perform today, according to reports.

With A R Rahman’s famous songs ‘Kalluri Saaley’ and ‘Hello Doctor,’ KK earned his start as a playback singer. He began his Bollywood career by singing a short bit of Gulzar’s Maachis’ ‘Chhod Aaye Hum.’ However, the enormously popular ‘Tadap tadap ki’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999 was his first full-fledged Bollywood song.

Following his sad and untimely death, social media is in disbelief. On Twitter and Instagram, fans, musicians, and celebrities are expressing their sorrow.
