Remember the role of a mother in the film Taare Zameen Par of Aamir Khan? Well, yes, she is none other than Tisca Chopra, who got recognition in B Town after taking up this role in the hit movie. She is basically known as Tisca Zareen Arora, who is an actress, writer and theatre person. She is born in Kasauli the popular town in Himachal Pradesh in a Punjabi family of educationists. After her schooling in Kasauli, she headed to Delhi to do her graduation from Apeejay School, Noida wherein her father worked as a principal, later she went to Hindu College to do English Literature. During her college days, she got associated with theatre wherein she worked as an armature theatre person. Besides, she also got associated with writing to different publications and soon turned a known face in college festivals and theatre groups. After completing her education, she headed to Mumbai to pursue her career in acting wherein she got the training from veteran theatre artists like Naseeruddin Shan and Feroz Abbas.

Her film career starting with the movie Platform in opposite to Ajay Devgn, followed by other movies like 15^th August, Gunegar, Taqdeerwala, etc, however, she got recognition with her movie – Taare Zameen Par in the year 2007. She then appeared in a number of other films including Firaaq, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, 404, Love Breakups Zindagi, Qissa, OMG: Oh My God! Etc. For her movie Taare Zameen Par, she was awarded the stardust award under people’s category for supporting actress. Apart from Hindi movies, she was also seen in south Indian films including I Love India, Malayalam movie – Mayabazar, etc. She is currently working in a Marathi movie called Highway, along with other two movie Kaksparsh, while her upcoming movie is Rahasya.

As far as her theatre career is concerned, she has done a number of plays in Mumbai and soon would be seen in working in a movie called Mahatma Vs Ganchi, Inshah Allah of Satya Dev Dubey and All The Best. She was also the part of the Pulitzer Award Play called Dinner With Friends. Apart from working in theatres and movies, she has also appeared in smaller screen. The TV series including Ek Shaam Ki Mulaquat, Love Marriage, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Hum Saath Sath Hai Kya? Besides, she has also hosted a show on Sony TV called Prayschit – Gunahon Ke Zahkm, wherein the criminals were given the chance to reform, which generated a good TRP.

She was also seen in the TV Series of Anil Kapoor playing the character of ATU Chief’s wife, which was written by Rensil D Silva and directed by Abhinay Deo. Her performance was applauded by one and all. Apart from doing films, theatres and TV, she has appeared in a number of commercials including Titan Eye Wear, Tanishq, Kellogs, Horlicks-Gold and Dish TV to name a few. As far as her personal life is concerned, she is married to Captain Sanjay Chopra who works in Air India as pilot, and happens to be the grand niece of late Indian writer Khuswant Singh. She is also involved in writing and developing scripts. Her book Acting Smart was published year by Harper Collins, which she has co-authored with her husband Sanjay.
