Bigg Boss: Age-shaming and Bigg Boss contestants go hand in hand, nothing has changed yet
Bigg Boss is in its 16th season, and the drama is as intense as it has been in previous seasons. Bigg Boss is notorious for the age-shaming that occurs inside the house, and it appears that this will continue indefinitely. MC Stan was seen commenting on Archana Gautam in the current season. ‘Basti Ki Aunty,’ he said. Many contestants have been subjected to age-related remarks over the years.
Archana Gautam
Bigg Boss contestant Archana Gautam and MC Stan got into a brawl last week, just as the grocery shopping task was about to begin, and Stan ended up calling Archana ‘Aunty.’ ‘Basti ki aunty,’ he said in response to her anecdote. Netizens chastised Mc Stan for his use of foul language.
Shamita Shetty
Last year, in a BB OTT episode, contestant Akshara Singh made a remark about Shamita’s age. While viewers were seen on social media supporting Shamita, Akshara was chastised for saying, “Shamita toh mere mummy ki umar ki hai.” Later, the actress was dubbed ‘buddhi.’ Neha Bhasin defended Shamita and chastised those who made fun of her age. She said, “I don’t appreciate such age-shaming comments. It shouldn’t matter whether a person is 20 or 40.” Former BB contestant Kashmera Shah, who has faced similar age-shaming comments, slammed Akshara on social media.
Sidharth Shukla
The Bigg Boss 14 winner, Sidharth Shukla, did not have an easy time in the house. Despite the fact that he was impressive from the start, some contestants made fun of his age. Mahira Sharma yelled ‘budha’ at Sidharth after a fight. Her remark drew a lot of criticism on social media. Naturally, the two reconciled and became good friends.
Eijaz Khan
During a task in Season 15, Rahul Vaidya age-shamed Eijaz, saying, “Bhaago mat, umar ke liye achcha nahi hai” (don’t run, it’s bad for your age). While Eijaz handled it well and ignored the criticism, viewers were quick to defend the actor.
Sonali Phogat
Sonali Phogat, a Bigg Boss 14 contestant, was age-shamed on the show. In a later interview, Sonali said, “I don’t understand that if I have aged, does that mean I can’t work in the industry. I don’t have an answer for this.”
Shefali Jariwala
In the Bigg Boss 13 house, Paras Chhabra and Shefali Jariwala did not get along. After the former called her a cougar, Shefali’s husband Parag Tyagi slammed Paras on social media, and Gauahar Khan backed him up.
Kashmera Shah
Kashmera, a Bigg Boss 13 contestant, had disagreements with co-contestant Nikki Tamboli for a variety of reasons. Later, during one of the nominations, Nikki called Kashmera’s name and stated that she did not respond to the latter’s comments because she respects her age. Kashmera was annoyed that Nikki made a remark about her age while nominating her. She was also in tears as a result of the incident.
