Sony Pictures to bring Shaktimaan on the big screen, Mukesh Khanna will produce the film

A treat for the 90s kids is here! Sony Pictures have announced to make a film on the popular superhero TV show Shaktimaan. It was an iconic tv show which featured Mukesh Khanna and ran on DD National from 1997 till the mid-2000s.

Mukesh Khanna played the titular superhero and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastriji, a photographer at a newspaper.

As per the makers, Shaktimaan will star “one of India’s superstars”. Through his Bheeshm International, Khanna is linked as one of the producers in the film. The official Sony Pictures India Twitter account published a one-minute announcement video, teasing Gangadhar’s trademark glasses, his camera, and the big reveal: Shaktimaan’s costume.
“After the super success of our many superhero films in India and all over the globe, it’s time for our desi Superhero!”
“We are excited to join hands with Brewing Thoughts Private Limited, and Mukesh Khanna’s Bheeshm International. Get ready for #ShatkimaanMovie; more details coming soon. Are you excited?” the tweet read.

The director and the rest of the cast are kept under wraps. The most popular series aired on DD National for approximately 450 episodes and drew a large audience, particularly among children.

The show had Geeta Vishwas, a reporter who loves Shaktimaan, was played by Kitu Gidwani and Vaishnavi Mahant, while Tamraj Kilvish, the primary antagonist, was played by actor Surendra Pal.
