Akshay Kumar Disheartened by ‘A’ Certification for OMG 2 by CBFC: “A Film Intended for Teenagers Receiving an Adult Rating”
Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam’s OMG 2 has been released in theaters, but it has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is a sequel to the 2008 film Oh My God!, which starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. The new film stars Pankaj Tripathi as a common man who seeks justice for his son. Akshay Kumar plays the role of a messenger of God who guides him through difficult times.
The CBFC has given the film an ‘A’ certificate for “adults only.” This means that children under the age of 18 are not allowed to watch the film. The CBFC has cited “a few scenes of violence and sexual references” as the reason for the ‘A’ certificate. The cast and crew of the film are disappointed with the ‘A’ certificate. Akshay Kumar, who is also the producer of the film, has said that he is “disappointed” with the decision. He has said that the film is “not an adult film” and that it is “suitable for all audiences.”
The CBFC has defended its decision, saying that the film contains “some scenes that may not be suitable for children.” The CBFC has also said that the film has been “certified ‘A’ after careful consideration.” It is unclear whether the makers of OMG 2 will appeal the CBFC’s decision.
