It was a tough weekend for Panipat as the historical drama had to face the heat of competition from the other film Pati Patni Aur Woh giving a limited collection during the weekend. The film although had a decent review, but the kind of word of mouth buzz in the media the movie so far seems to below. The film had 4.12 Crores on Friday, while the other day on Saturday could give the film a limited score only getting 5.78 Crores.
Despite getting a good count of screens, the movie failed to get good footfalls. The high scale and grandeur found in the movie making it be a magnum opus of Ashutosh Gowariker, the film failed to attract a much larger count of the audience in a big way. The first day there seemed to be a bit of rise with the collection reaching to 7.12 Crores. As per reports, the first-weekend box office collection went to around 17.02 Crores.
Several things have come in the way of attracting towards the film. These include the competition it has faced from the Kartik Aaryan starrer film Pati Patni Aur Woh along with other things like the historical drama remains a niche audience film. In a sense, the film has therefore failed to collect the amount, which it has been attracting so far. The experts feel that the film would go on a similar line.
