Sonali Bendre reveals about surviving cancer and making a comeback with ‘The Broken News’

Sonali Bendre has returned to work following her cancer recovery. In the ZEE5 web series The Broken News, the actress will star with Jaideep Ahlawat, Amina Quershi, and Dipankar Sanyal. In fact, her latest web series The Broken News is only her second fiction creation following the 2004 film Shankar Dada MBBS.

Now, Sonali Bendre has spoken up about her battle with cancer and how she is proud of the physical changes she has suffered as a result of surviving the disease.

Sonali Bendre spoke to the news portal about her wish to play a role her age, without being upset about it because she believes she’s currently looking the best she’s ever looked, especially given everything she’s gone through.

She says, “I wanted a character which is my age. Without it being sad, I think I’m looking the best I have ever looked, if I may say that. I’ll tell you why. Especially after what I have been through, I see beauty in the imperfection and I feel that the lines I have on my face, I have earned them.”

The 47-year-old actress admitted that she sees beauty in imperfection and believes she has earned the wrinkles on her face, which she believes tell a story and finds incredibly attractive.

“I think they tell a story and I find that so beautiful. And not just on my face. I have always found faces with lines on them more attractive because I think they tell stories. Otherwise, it’s like a blank canvas, which doesn’t excite me.”

In fact, she recalls how she has always found faces with lines more appealing because she believes they convey tales, whereas those without lines strike her as a blank canvas, which she finds unappealing.

Sonali Bendre has returned to acting after a seven-year hiatus, and ‘The Broken News’ is her second fiction effort since her last film, Shankar Dada MBBS, in 2004.
