Crew Teaser Review: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon Reign as Bollywood’s Official Queens, Reviving Comedy with a Nostalgic Twist, Plus a Nod to Choli Ke Peeche

It’s officially the season of flying high on the big screen, and Ekta Kapoor & Rhea Kapoor’s latest creation, Crew, is the newest addition to this soaring trend. The film’s teaser, featuring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon, is a promising sight, offering a glimpse of the riotous fun in store.

The year 2024 took off with Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s Fighter, revolving around flying fighter jets, followed by Teja Sajja’s HanuMan, embodying the flying God of India. Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon soared high in spirits with “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” and now, the trio of Kareena, Kriti Sanon, and Tabu have made a grand entrance. The teaser of Crew, directed by Rajesh Krishnan, is a brief 1-minute 38-second delight, assuring audiences of a laughter-packed experience with just a glimpse. This is a refreshing change, as Bollywood has long awaited a comic entertainer amidst the prevalent gunshots and bloodshed on screen.

Crew is scheduled for release on March 29, and the teaser has already made the wait seem too long. The seasoned performers, Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti, seem to have guaranteed a box office hit, promising to revive laughter in Bollywood films, which have been dominated by action and violence.

Amidst the action-packed trend, Crew seems to offer a much-needed breather. The teaser kicks off with Tabu’s impactful voice welcoming viewers on board, setting the stage for what’s to come. The teaser is thoughtfully edited, maintaining a balance between the three leading ladies, a rarity in itself. Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti, in that order of seniority, portray air hostesses, and by the end of the teaser, one can’t help but wish for their on-screen reunion, albeit not in real life.

The captivating reboot of “Choli Ke Peeche” in the background adds an intriguing layer to this already brilliant teaser, offering glimpses of Kapil Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh as well!

As the three leading ladies humorously caution, “Just one ant is enough to kill an elephant… here, we have three ants,” we’re already eager to witness these powerhouses bring the house down with their dark comedy. Their camaraderie looks flawless, providing tough competition to Bollywood’s iconic trio of Raju, Shyam, and Baburao! So, while Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon may be on par with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal’s Hera Pheri trio, their twisted Hera Pheri in Crew promises an entertaining spectacle.
