KGF Chapter 2 Review: Prashanth Neel delivers a larger than life film with Yash shining all over

Movie: K.G.F: Chapter 2

Star Cast: Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj

Director: Prashanth Neel

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Story:

Vijayendra (Prakash Raj), the son of author Anand Vasiraju, continues to narrate the iconic Rocky’s (Yash) story to a news-channel editor where it all stopped in the first chapter. Rocky’s narrative shows how he has evolved from a ‘bhai’ to a ‘bhagwan’ for others around him. Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) and his army return to find and kill Rocky now that he has killed Garuda.

Although Adheera isn’t Rocky’s only stumbling block, he is now on India’s Prime Minister Ramika Sen’s radar (Raveena Tandon). While Rocky manages to avoid Adheera, the government stands in his path to becoming India’s “CEO” (in Rocky’s words). Will there be only one winner in this triple threat match?

Review:

The first half of KGF 2 by Prashanth Neel nicely prepares the audience for the fight between Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) and Rocky (Yash). The lines, BGM, and the two performers’ imposing presence keep you captivated to the screen. As the narrator, Prakash Raj is fantastic. The film is a testosterone-fueled adrenaline rush. Prashanth Neel appears to be greatly influenced by 1980s gangster films. Sanjay Dutt as Adheera is frightening, exactly how he is supposed to be with the character he is playing.

This is the kind of movie that reminds you why you want to see it on the big screen. This is a director to keep an eye on; he’s just made three films and already has a few signature motifs. It also helps that Bhuvan Gowda’s camera work captures the sense of wonder that Prashanth wants you to feel when you witness Narachi and KGF, as well as the power brokers at work.

With the film, art director Shivakumar J accomplishes something wonderful: he suspends it in a semi-mystical zone while keeping it grounded. Ravi Basrur’s stirring score leaves an indelible impression.

Ramika Sen, Raveena Tandon’s portrayal of India’s Prime Minister, has the country’s best interests at heart. Mayhem is unavoidable when she clashes with Rocky, who believes he is the CEO of India. The showdown between the two is dynamite. Director Neel’s brilliance resides in his ability to make this track function like a missile.

Verdict:

In a nutshell, KGF 2 elevates Yash’s heroism giving his fans another reason to rejoice. However, one key aspect of the game is suppressed and rarely given the chance to shine: fascinating storytelling.
