The evergreen and versatile singer of Bollywood known as Asha Bhosle turns 81 today. So, at the very outset, a very warm and prosperous birthday to her from CineTalkers. She has started her career way back in the late 40’s at the age of 13. She made her debut with the song Do Chaar Idhar Do Chaar Udhar from the movie Raat Ki Raani released in the year 1949. However, this particular time was dominated by bigwigs like Lata Mangehswar, Shamshad Begum and Geeta Dutt, which made her struggle a lot and thus was seen singing more the B Grade movies. However, thanks to B R Chopra and Raj Kapoor, which put their trust on her giving her chance to sing some memorable songs like Nanhe Munne Bacche Teri Muththi Mein Kya Hai from the movie Boot Polish and ‘Ude Jab Jab Zulfein from the movie Naya Daur.
She was awarded with Padma Vibhushan for her contribution of singing more than 12,000 songs in a number of Indian Languages. Besides singing, she also runs a restaurant chain called Asha’s which has its branches in India, Dubai and Qatar. She has thanked her fans for wishing her on this big day of her.
