WATCH: Shah Rukh Khan meets his son Aryan Khan in Mumbai’s Arthur jail

Shah Rukh Khan paid a visit to Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail today to see his son Aryan Khan, who was denied bail yesterday and has been in custody since October 8 in connection with the drugs-on-cruise case.

This was the superstar’s first meeting with his 23-year-old son, who was arrested on October 2 after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) stormed a rave party on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai.

SRK, 55, was detained for almost 20 minutes. In the midst of the pandemic, the Maharashtra government eased limits on jail visits, prompting his visit.

After being denied bail twice, Aryan Khan has filed a petition with the Bombay High Court. Today is the last day of his judicial detention. On Friday, he had a video conference with his parents, SRK and Gauri Khan. A special court refused Aryan Khan bail Monday, citing his WhatsApp conversations as evidence of his involvement in “illicit narcotics activity.”

“WhatsApp chats prima facie reveals accused Aryan Khan is dealing in illicit drug activities for narcotic substances on regular basis. Therefore, it cannot be said that Khan is not likely to commit similar offence while on bail,” Judge VV Patil said in his order.

The evidence presented in court also suggests a “nexus” between Aryan Khan and suppliers and peddlers, according to the court. Despite the fact that no narcotics were found on Aryan Khan, the court determined that he was aware of six grams of charas secreted in his companion Arbaaz Merchant’s shoe, which constituted “conscious possession.”

While celebrities such as Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, as well as director Farah Khan, have spoken out in support of SRK and his son, the film industry has been relatively silent on the issue.
