Salman Khan-Aayush Sharma’s Antim and Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan to release on OTT for pay-per-view? Details inside!
Recently, the much-awaited Salman Khan starrer Radhe: You Most Wanted Bhai was release on OTT platforms in a pay-per-view format. After the pandemic, the actor and makers waited for a long time for cinema halls to reopen but when things didn’t go right, they opted for the hybrid release option on Eid. The film was also released in theaters internationally. The recent update states that Radhe crossed 9.9 million views across the OTT platforms.
Now after looking at the success of Radhe online, another big news is making its way from the industry. As we all know that many big films are waiting to release and hence Zee Studios has begun talking with the makers to opt for the hybrid release for their films. A source informed Bollywood Hungama, “The industry has now realized that if a film stars a big name, then a simultaneous release in cinemas and on a platform like ZeePlex can be an interesting proposition. Hence, Zee’s top honchos wasted no time and have already approached around 4-5 highly awaited biggies. The makers are in talks with Zee and this shows how widely ZeePlex has got acceptance.”
Although, the source did not mention the names of the film the guessing game has now begun. An industry insider told Bollywood Hungama, “It is quite possible that makers of Sooryavanshi and ‘83 are in talks. Both these films have been delayed by more than a year. Also, Antim: The Final Truth reportedly will take the hybrid release route. Meanwhile, Maidaan is a film of Zee Studios and it will be in contention. Apart from these, a couple of big-budgeted South films might also be interested.”
