OMG: Petition asking to ban the film Kedarnath in Gujarat HC

Kedarnath

The film Kedarnath has been in discussion ever since it was announced in the media. This was primarily due to the presence of Sara Ali Khan as the lead actress in it who is doing her debut. The Saif Ali Khan daughter will be opening her innings in Bollywood with this film opposite the talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Now, when their film is all set to release next week, they seem to be finding some hurdles in Gujarat against the film. As per reports, a right-wing group called International Hindu Sena based in Gujarat has knocked the doors of Gujarat High Court. The group has filed a petition in the Gujarat HC demanding the ban on the film.

The petition claimed that the film is promoting Love Jihad and that it will create issues in the society. The film is releasing on 7th December 2018, and the petition raised objection over the kissing scene between the lead actors of the film in the Kedarnath temple and that it will promote vulgarity along with insulting the sacred place of Hindus, which with hurt their religious sentiments. The film is directed by Abhishek Kapoor, while the story of the film deals with a love story with a Muslim boy and a girl from wealthy family coming from Hindu community.

The girl falls in love with her guide who helps and serve the pilgrims at the Kedarnath Temple in the mountains of Uttarakhand. It is interesting to see the right-wing group filing a petition when the film is all set to release next week. Perhaps in it another attempt of the group to come in the limelight as we have seen in the case of Padmavat starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Similarly, there was an objection against the Salman Khan film that had launched his brother in law in the films that further made Salman to change the name from Loveratri to Loveyatri. Well, let’s see what decision comes from the court, but as of now, the film would go on hold.
