Japan surpasses the United States as RRR’s largest grossing overseas territory

S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster action drama RRR, which debuted in Japan in October of last year, has been running in theatres for over 193 days, breaking every record for an Indian release in terms of both footfalls and collections in that country. RRR has put another feather to its cap, as Japan has surpassed the United States as the largest grossing overseas territory for RRR.

After being in theatres for over 193 days, RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr.NTR, has grossed over 13.74 million at the Japanese box office, which equates to Rs. 112 crore. Previously, the United States held the title of highest grossing overseas country for RRR, with the film earning 13.66 million dollars.

In addition to Japan becoming the highest-earning overseas country, the film has set another record at the Japanese box office. RRR had its greatest Monday in Japan box office history on its 193rd day of distribution.

The news was shared by the film’s official Twitter account.

RRR’s worldwide box office collection currently stands at Rs. 1274 crore, thanks to a box office collection of Rs. 112 crore in Japan. The epic action film, which will be released on March 25, 2022, depicts a fictitious story about two great revolutionaries and their trip away from home before they began fighting for their country in the 1920s.
