Chhapaak Overseas Box Office Collection: A Fair Reception for Deepika Film
The Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak could have been brought to controversy for the visit of the leading lady at JNU, but at the overseas market, the film is getting a warm reaction. All thanks to her incredible performance and the compelling story of Malti in the film who happens to be an acid attack survivor, which was inspired by the real-life hero – Laxxmi Agarwal.
The film has faced tough competition by the other release – Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior starring Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan. However, if you look at the overseas collection, Chhapaak has done well in the international market. As per reports, the film in its opening weekend managed to gain 7.30 Crores in the global circuits. The film gained around 317K USD in the USA and Canada, while in UAE and in the Middle East it gained 331K USD.
Similarly, the film in Australia and the UK has brought collections like 96k and 113K USD giving a good boost to the collections of the film. The rest of the countries gave a decent collection bringing together the figure went to be not less than 173k USD. However, back home, the political tussle between the leading lady and the fringe group has somewhere hampered the collection of the film.
