HBD Tanuja Ji: 5 popular movies by the veteran actress that will take you to the world of ’70s

Today is the veteran actress Tanuja Mukherjee’s birthday. She was one of the most well-known actors of her time. Although Tanuja is most known as the mother of Kajol, an actress, she has also put up some incredible performances on the big screen throughout her career.

Shobhana Samarth, Tanuja’s mother, was also an actress, and Kumarsen Samarth, her father, was a producer. The actress has two daughters, Kajol and Tanishaa, from her marriage to the director Shomu Mukherjee.

Her first film, Chhabili, was released in 1960, despite the fact that she began her career as a youngster in Hamari Beti in 1950. While Tanuja’s older sister Nutan was already well-known in the field, Tanuja won over her heart with her grace, beauty, and prodigious acting abilities.

Tanuja Ji successfully wooed her way into Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati films such as Rajkumari, Prothom Kadam Phool, Teen Bhuvaner Parey, and Zaakol.

In honor of Tanuja’s birthday, let’s look at some of her top Bollywood films:

After meeting Tanu, who is portrayed by Tanuja, he marries her. However, things get ugly when Tanu, who is envious, asks Raju to pick between her and the animals, and he does.

2) Do Chor

The film, which was directed by Padmanabh, features Dharmendra, Tanuja, and K. N. Singh. The music was composed by RD Burman, while Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar contributed great songs, which helped this romantic thriller gain popularity. The main character of the film is a thief named Tony who gets caught by the police as a result of some robberies that happen around the city. He quickly learns that “Bob” is another burglar. Sandhya (Tanuja), who poses as a male, is actually Sandhya. As Tony helps Sandhya steal, the movie subsequently uncovers her actual motivations.

3) Jewel Thief

Veteran actor Dev Anand played a key role in the 1967 movie Jewel Thief. Tanuja appeared in the song Raat Akeli Hai and played the part of the jeweler’s daughter. Four additional actresses, including Vyjayantimala, Helen, Faryal, and Anju Mahendru, appeared in the heist movie. In addition to them, Ashok Kumar, Nazir Hussain, and Sapru also had significant roles.

Beautiful and timeless songs from the film include O mere dil ke chain, Chala Jata Hoon, and Aao Na Gale Lag Jao Na. In the movie, Rajesh Khanna plays Prakash, a painter who develops feelings for Tanuja’s Jyoti, a doctor. Kamini, a character played by Helen, is in love with Prakash. There are numerous romantic subplots throughout the film. Ravikant Nagaich is the director of Mere Jeevan Saathi.

5) Jeene Ki Raah
