Subhash Ghai is a famous film director, screenwriter and producer. Some of his notable movies include Kalicharan (1976), Karz (1980), Hero, Karma, Meri Jung, Saudagar, Ram Lakhan, Pardesh, Taal and Khalnayak. He is more known as a showman of the Hindi movies in Bollywood, while he owns Mukta Arts, which he launched in the year 1982 for producing epic films, which showcase grandeur along with some of the most incredible rich themes. Subhash Ghai was born and brought in New Delhi, while he graduated in commerce from Rohtak (Haryana) and then he left to Pune to join FTII (Film and Television Institute of India). After receiving his diploma, he started his journey to work in Indian film Industry in the year 1970.

If you talk about his career, he entered in Bollywood as an actor doing some small roles in around six movies, which released in the early 70’s. He was even seen in the leading role in the year 1970’s, while debuted his directorial feet from the movie called Kalicharan, which he got through the reference of Shatrughna Sinha. He formed Mukta Arts Private Ltd, which emerged out as a public company for which he was promoted as its managing director and chairman. In his directorial career’s peak he networked with Dilip Kumar and then he directed the famous movies like Vidhaaa, Karma and Sudagar. He was even awarded the best Filmfare award for his movie Saudagar in the year 1991.

His films also helped actors like Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff to establish themselves as actors with movies like Ram Lakhan and Hero. He made several movies with these two actors, which led them to become stable in the Bollywood industry. In the year 1997, he was seen directing Pardesh, which starred SRK and Mahima Chowdhry, while his movie Taal in 1991 was also among the internationally acclaimed movies. Therefore he came with movies like Yaadein and Kisna. After directing all these movies, he took a break and returned as a producer by making movies like Aitraaz, Iqbal, 36 China Town and Apna Sapna Money Money. However, except the movie Iqbal and Aitraaz the other movies turned out as a big flop.

In the year 2006, he established his own high end film institute called Whistling Woods International in Bombay, which is behind training a number of students in careers like production, photography, direction, animation and acting. Unlike Afred Hitchcock, he was also seen rendering with some brief cameos in his directorial ventures. Again in the year 2008, he returned with certain movies called Black and White, Yuvvraaj and finally with Jai Ho in 2014. As far as his personal life is concerned, Subhash Ghai is married to Rehana Farooqui (now named as Mukta Ghai) from whom have two daughters. His directorial efforts have given him several awards including National Film award for the movie Iqbal and best director for movies like Saudagar and Pardes.
