After working with Imtiaz Ali in Laila Majnu, Tripti Dimri reveals she had to wait for two years to get Bulbbul

Tripti Dimri made her Bollywood debut with the 2017 released film Poster Boys starring Sunny Deol and Boby Deol. She was then seen as the lead in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Laila Majnu’ opposition Avinash Tiwary, the film, however, it didn’t do well at the Boxoffice. She made her big only after the release of her critically acclaimed web film, ‘Bulbbul’in 2020.

Now as the actress is getting offers from the industry she revealed that she had to wait two years to get work after ‘Laila Majnu’. Speaking about her long gap, the actress told ETimes, “It was demotivating… For how long can you keep your hopes high? You can do that for one or two months and then you get tired. I waited for good scripts to come my way, but it wasn’t happening. So that was the most difficult phase because I would get up every day wondering what’s next, especially when all my friends were working. It was too stressful for me.”

Even though she didn’t have any work in her hand she used her free time to enrol herself in acting classes, which has helped her as an actor.

Tripti said that people use to suggest she say away from OTT as she did two films back to back. She feels thankful for not listening to them.

She added, “My digital film has changed my life completely, not just professionally, but personally, too. It is through this project that I learnt to grasp a character’s graph. It made me quite confident as a person and as an actor.”

The actress is now handled by Karan Johar’s talent company and has an untitled project underway.
Tripti will net be seen in Netflix original ‘Qala’, opposite Irrfan Khan’s son Babil. The film is produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother and Karnesh Sharma’s production house Clean Slate Filmz who also bankrolled Bulbbul.
