Yes you have read it right. Now, as per one of the research studies, Turmeric, which is one of the most familiar yellow spice more often found in Indian food, can help in treating oral cancers, which are caused by virus. As per the study of an Indian origin researcher, one of the herb’s important active ingredients known as the curcumin would appear to have the quelling impact on the activity of human papillomavirus (HPV), which was pointed out by the said studies.

As per the medical researcher and author from Emory University based in Atlanta, in the US, Dr. Alok Mishra claims that Turmeric is known to have a number of anti viral and anti cancer properties, which can further help in taking care of the oral health. HPV is one of the viruses, which is responsible in bringing in cervical and oral cancer. These have no cure, however, as per the new findings would suggest that curcumin can offer one of the best means of future control.

As per the research, the antioxidants were able to slow down the expression of HPV. As the HPV related oral cancer cases are seen on a sudden rise, Turmeric being one of the vital options to treat oral cancer is one of the biggest achievements in the medical circles. As per the new research, curcumin turns down the expression of HPV found in the infected oral cancer cells, which can therefore help in regulating the levels of cellular transcription factors like AP-1 and NF-kB.
