SRK starrer “Pardes” turns 25 today, filmmaker recalls the making of the magical romantic drama

SRK and Mahima Chaudhry’s Pardes completed its 25th anniversary in the world of cinema today. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, on this occasion, remembered all that led to the creation of this iconic musical love story.

Ghai stated: “Pardes is very close to my heart. On its 25th anniversary, I congratulate all the cast members as well as the audience for the consistent love they gave to the movie, despite its being 25 years old. My crew members often tell me that people shower their love and remember memorable scenes in digital space even today.

The filmmaker revealed that Pardes has cherished the rich Indian culture. He had a word with Lt. Arun Jaitley to call Vajpayee Ji at the music launch event at that time. Coincidentally, the song “I love My India” was out just before India’s 50th Independence.

“My heart is dedicated to India. I can simply keep explaining the greatness of this wonderful country, and there is no end to it. It is another fortune that I am composing another video song, “Ghar Ghar Tiranga”, today to cherish the 75th Independence of our country,” he added.

The movie “Pardes”, which was released in 1997, is about a man who chooses an Indian girl, Ganga, for his NRI son and gets them married. But the girl is emotionally linked with his foster son, Arjun (SRK).

Pardes also features Apurva Agnihotri, Amrish Puri, Alok Nath, and Himani Shivpuri in prominent roles. It was the fourth highest earning movie in Bollywood in 1997 after “Dil Toh Pagal Hai”, “Border” and “Ishq”.

Bollywood’s King Khan Shah Rukh Khan entered millions of hearts with his eye-catching performance in this movie.
