Thank God Story

Ayan (Sidharth Malhotra) is a self-centred real estate broker, who has a lot of debts to pay off. As the story begins, he meets with an accident and reaches heaven. There, he reaches YamLok, where he meets Chitra Gupt, played by Ajay Devgn. CG asks him to play the “Game of Life” just to make him realize his bad deeds on earth. If Ayan wins, he will be sent back to earth, otherwise, he will be sent to hell.

In this game of life, will he realise his mistakes? Will he reform himself into a good person? Watch the movie to know.

Thank God Review

Thank God is a Desi, light-hearted comedy perfect to watch with your family, with no offensive language or double-meaning words. Indra Kumar has offered a lot of stupid jokes to make you laugh. He also has some emotional moments which will make you remember your family’s love. Its main goal is to tell viewers that some mistakes can be undone and you can reform yourself into a good person if you realise them. However, don’t expect anything serious, useful, or informative from this film.

Thank God Star Performances

Ajay Devgn as Chitragupt is a treat to the viewers as he teaches Ayan a lesson while playing the game of life. The way he explains every point in every scene is quite convincing. Besides this, his modern, handsome avatar as CG cannot go unnoticed while watching. His presence acts like a pillar that supports the lead character, Sidharth Malhotra, and helps the movie proceed engagingly.

Sidharth Malhotra as Ayan impresses with his on-point expressions, sometimes funny and confused, sometimes deep and emotive. However, one thing that sidelines his character from getting importance is his weak role. He has been portrayed as a nonsense, foolish guy throughout the entire movie, who realises his mistakes later. Whether it’s about wronging her sister, feeling jealous of his wife, or being self-centred and not caring about anybody else.

Rakul Preet Singh fits well into her character as a loving wife, However, she tries hard to make us think of her as a police officer in the story. Nora Fatehi never fails to leave us in awe with her amazing dance moves. Despite her cameo appearance in just one song ‘Manike,’ she effortlessly steals the limelight. Seema Pahwa doesn’t get much on-screen presence, so her character in the film feels like a waste.

Thank God Direction, Screenplay & Music

Indra Kumar’s direction feels a little outdated. He should understand that times have changed and viewers expect something that makes sense and offers knowledge. His script solely relies on comedy and emotions, avoiding the viewer’s intellect. The plot of this film has, however, justified itself in 121 minutes of runtime, and you won’t feel bored leaving the movie in between. It also stays away from filthy jokes and nasty terms used in movies nowadays. I guess this is what works in their favour.

Soundtracks like Haaniya Ve, Manike, and Dil De Diya Hai connect well with the plot, keeping it lively. The background music also adds exuberance to the scenes at times. The screenplay is in synchronization, and you will hardly feel any lags in this area.

Thank God Review: Final Verdict

Overall, Thank God is a great choice as a family entertainer. However, it has nothing informative to watch repeatedly. It’s a decent one-time watch for some chills and laughs. But don’t forget that it carries no wisdom and cause, just a light-hearted comedy.
