Rajkumar Hirani Emerges as the Most Cost-Efficient Director for Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki; Film’s Budget Disclosed

The countdown has begun for the release of the big Christmas 2023 release, the Rajkumar Hirani-directed Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan with Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. The makers are all gearing up to introduce the audiences to the world of this social dramedy before it hits the big screen on December 21, 2023.

As per Bollywood Hungama reports, Dunki is among the least expensive films of SRK’s career and it’s all thanks to the taut planning of Rajkumar Hirani and the team. Dunki has been made on a budget of around Rs 120 crore, which is quite low by SRK’s standards. This is because Rajkumar Hirani is known for his meticulous planning, and he was very careful with the expenses. He was very clear about what he wanted, and he didn’t waste any money.

The report also added, “SRK was also very co-operative and he was very mindful of the budget. He didn’t demand any luxuries and he was always on time for the shoot. This helped a lot in keeping the costs down.”

Thanks to the careful planning of Rajkumar Hirani and the team, Dunki is set to be one of the most cost-effective films of the year. This is a testament to Hirani’s filmmaking skills and his ability to deliver quality films within a tight budget.

Insider sources reveal that the production cost of Dunki, excluding the remuneration of Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani, stands at a mere Rs. 90 crores. “Rajkumar Hirani, being a writer, director, and editor, possesses a crystal-clear vision of what he needs to capture and how. He never squanders resources and meticulously plans the shooting schedule. He managed to complete the Dunki shoot in just 70 days.

The production cost of Dunki, excluding talent fees, is estimated to be around Rs. 90 crores. Additionally, the makers are prepared to allocate approximately Rs. 30 to 35 crores for print and publicity expenses. “Due to the box office clash, a larger sum will be devoted to promoting the film,” the source added. “Considering both production and publicity costs, the overall budget falls within the range of Rs. 125 to 130 crores.”

The talent fees are not included in the aforementioned budget. If we factor in the acting fees of the ensemble cast, excluding SRK, the total budget could reach around Rs. 150 crores.
