Apple dropped Richard Gere’s Bastard Based on an Israeli Series

Apple has also planned to enter the OTT world with its original contents delivery on it OTT platform very soon. Trailing ahead in the same, they were working on an Israeli based story to be depicted in the form of a web series. But, news has been coming up that Apple has cancelled this Richard Gere starrer, titled as Bastard.

Apple has decided to not move forward with the drama series Bastards, starring Actor Richard Gere.

The series was supposed to be based on the Israeli series Nevelot. Gere had to play the piece as one of the two lead roles and Warren Leight was set to write plot for the series. Gere was supposed to play as one of the two elderly Vietnam vets and best friends who live a pretty monotonous lives turned upside down as a woman, who both were in love with over fifty years ago gets killed.

As learnt from sources, the creative differences between Apple, Gordon, and Leight have led to the nascent streamer cancelling the project after paying a really huge financial penalty to the producers.

However, there’s still no official launch date for the Apple streaming service.

Even though, Apple has already begun releasing its teasers and trailers from its content version. These are expected to be its initial programming slate which includes upcoming shows like- The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon and Dickinson starring Hailee Steinfeld. Apple’s entry into the OTT streaming world is going to exceed the ongoing competition amongst the existing OTT players like Netflix and Amazon Prime, as well.
