26/11 Terrorist attack on Mumbai was indeed a tragic event in the Indian history with many people losing their lives. As the 14th anniversary of the 26/11 attacks arrives, many remember the events that have haunted the city and its people for decades. Several filmmakers came out and narrated the horrifying attack episodes from different theoretical perspectives, saluting the defenders and guards’ bravery.

Movies and series based on 26/11 event

Major (2022)

Adivi Sesh’s 2022 release ‘Major,’ was simply amazing. This Sashi Kiran Tikka directorial brought fire to the screen. Its plot follows the survival of real-life martyred Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who saved the lives of people who were in the Taj Hotel at that time.

Mumbai Diaries (2021)

Mumbai Diaries is among the most captivating shows that released in India in recent years. The Amazon Prime Video Original series Mumbai Diaries 26/11, created by Nikkhil Advani and Nikhil Gonsalves, is a medical drama with a premise set at a government hospital in Mumbai and how the medical fraternity cope with the 26/11 crisis while themselves being attacked. The play, which is a blend of reality and fiction, focuses on the human aspect of the night of the city’s most horrible terror attack.

Hotell Mumbai (2018)

Hotel Mumbai is an action thriller film directed by Anthony Maras and co-written by Maras and John Collee that was released in 2018. Currently,it is accessible on Zee5. 

Surviving Mumbai, a 2009 documentary on the 2008 Mumbai assaults at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in India, inspired this Indian-Australian-American co-production. It’s about a hotel staff who goes to great lengths to keep its customers secure. Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Anupam Kher, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Jason Isaacs, Suhail Nayyar, Nagesh Bhosle, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo appear in the film.

Phantom (2015)

Kabir Khan’s Phantom was released in 2015 featuring Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan. It is based on Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mumbai Avengers.’ The screenplay depicted the repercussions of the incident with two face difficulties and tribulations. This film can be watched on Netflix digital platform.

The Attacks of 26/11 (2013)

Ram Gopal Varma’s 2013 release is currently streaming on Voot and is based on Rommel Rodrigues’ book ‘Kasab: The Face of 26/11.’ Nana Patekar plays the lead in the film, and the gut-wrenching misery of the city and its residents is brilliantly conveyed on screen
