Zayed Khan’s early claim to fame in Bollywood was his influential family. His father Sanjay Khan is a well known actor and producer. His sister, Suzzane Khan is the ex wife of Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan. Besides this, he is the cousin of Fardeen Khan, who at one time was a leading actor.
Zayed debuted with his schoolmate and friend Esha Deol in the film Chura Liya Hain Tumne. Though he made a good impression with his debut performance, success eluded him.Till the time he played the role of Lakshman AKA Lucky in the Shahrukh Khan starrer Main Hoon Na, he was not recognized for his acting . He essayed the role of a happy go lucky student who is the brother of Shahrukh’s character. Main Hoon Na was a Superhit Blockbuster and one of the highest earning films of the year. It also earned him a Filmfare nomination for Best supporting actor in the year 2004.
Besides Main Hoon Na, Zayed’s notable performances include Yuvraj , directed by none other than Subhash Ghai. In Ghai’s saga about three brothers and their estranged relationship , he essayed the role of the youngest brother. The roles of the elder brothers were played by Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor. His performance in the commercially unsuccessful film, was noted to be average.
Zayed was also a part of the multi starrer, Blue , which was a peculiar under water thriller. In the film, he acted alongside Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta.
Although many of his movies are multi starrers , he played potential characters in films like Dus, Shabd, Shaadi no. One and Vaada. Mission Istabul, Fight Club and Cash are other film that did justice to his acting skills. He made a special appearance among many actors and actresses in the Shahrukh Khan and Farhan Khan production, OM Shanti Om.
Zayed tied the knot with this childhood friend, Malaika Parekh rubbishing rumors about his link up with actresses Esha Deol and Diya Mirza with whom he has acted in many films. The actor has a son and a daughter.
Presently, Zayed is turning to film production. Besides he is working on Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene and Desi Magic to be released in 2015.
