Plot

Meet Simi and Jaggi played by Rukshar Dhillon and Sunny Kaushal respectively have one dream in common – to win the city’s (Amritsar’s) biggest inter-college bhangra competition for their respective colleges. They come as rivals but amidst all their banter and bhangra beats, they end up falling in love. So, what happens next, will they still pursue to win the title for their college or not is interesting to catch in the nearby cinema.

Review

The characters played by the two seem poles apart from being highly territorial by nature. However, their love for dance seems to be in common. The debutante director Sneha Taurani has kept a conflict typical in its inner core making every place they dwell a battlefield of love and overall life. In a sense, the plotline happens to be dramedy, which is further divided into two halves having a back story having an origin of the World War II era.

Bhangra Paa Le Movie

Now, talking about the performances, Sunny has played the dreamy-eyed hillbilly has performed well on the silver screen, while the diva Rukshar Dhillon, who is the big-city ‘it’ girl, was seen playing the character with confidence personified. Amidst all this, the film’s Cinematographer Jitan Harmeet Singh has a wonderful job in capturing the innocence of countryside Punjab and juxta amidst all the chaos that is seen in Amritsar. The music on the other side is peppy, which is something unexpected from the dance-based movie.

Amidst all this, the film lacks in portraying the love blossoming between the two and their chemistry in the glaringly weaker way on the silver screen. Talking about the other things like direction, the debutante director Sneha Taurani needs to hone her skills for direction that falls behind the camera along with putting the lengthy narrative in the worst kind of a story. However, the film’s only USP is the choreography along with the peppy dance that looks pretty weak and predictable.

‘Bhangra Paa Le’ – The Last Word

With all said and done, the film BHANGRA PAA LE happens to be an average one-time watch movie with an average performance. The film is likely to go largely unrecognized for obvious reasons. Nonetheless, if you still want to catch it this weekend, it will be purely on your own risk.
