Google Doodle Honors Bollywood Icon Sridevi on Her 60th Birth Anniversary

Sridevi’s on-screen charisma was so magnetic that it transcended language barriers. After the success of her Tamil film Moondru Mudichu, she and her co-stars became even more famous with a string of hit films like Guru and Sankarlal. She was widely considered the star of Tamil cinema at the time, and her talent and star power soon caught the attention of producers from the Hindi-speaking film industry as well.

Sridevi’s Hindi film debut came in 1979 with the film Solva Sawan. She went on to star in a number of successful Hindi films, including Himmatwala, Mr. India, Chandni, and Lamhe. She was one of the few actresses who could command a huge fan following across India, and she was often referred to as the “First Female Superstar of Indian Cinema.”

Sridevi’s on-screen persona was both glamorous and relatable. She could play a wide range of characters, from innocent young girls to strong and independent women.
