Dharma Production’s upcoming film ‘Kesari’ starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, has a new addition. The bubbly Bollywood beauty Parineeti Chopra has been roped in to play the female lead in this flick. The movie is said to be about the Battle of Saragarhi and it’s helmed by Anurag Singh. As per the news report, Ajay Devgn is soon arriving with a film based on the same subject.
Talking about the film’s development, Akshay said “Battle of Saragarhi is happening. Whether Salman is co-producing it is still being figured out!” This venture is the joint production of Karan Johar and Akshay Kumar.
“Both Karan and Akshay have zeroed in on Parineeti Chopra and she has given her nod too. She is very much onboard and will begin prep for the film soon. An official announcement about the same is being planned for sometime in November end. This is a big project for Parineeti and there was no way she could turn it down.” said a close source.
“Parineeti plays a strong character and has really liked the script. The makers have started prep. Huge sets of the Saragarhi and Gulistan forts, as well as a village, will be erected in Wai, a town in Satara district,” added the source. “The actors will be provided with a lot of material for their parts and will start full-time prep close to the shooting date. The film is set to tentatively go on the floors in January next year,” said the source.
The other name for the female lead the makers were thinking of roping on was Katrina Kaif, but Parineeti bagged the role. The shooting for the film ‘Kesari’ will kick start by January 2018, stated the source. ‘Kesari’ is likely to release on Holi 2019.
