The show will invite women from the entertainment, sports, and other fields and speak about labels that try to hold women back. The first guest on the podcast was one of Markle’s close friends, Serena Williams, who discussed common misconceptions about ambition.
All of the guests who will appear on the Duchess of Sussex’s podcast can be heard speaking about the words associated with women and their history in a teaser clip released on Spotify. Among the voice clips is one that appears to be Deepika Padukone’s. Several internet users pointed out that Padukone could be heard saying, “Sensitive and emotional,” in the teaser. Many netizens also expressed surprise that Priyanka Chopra, who has been a close friend to Markle and was present at her royal wedding with Prince Harry, is not on the podcast guestlist. Other guests rumoured to appear on Archetypes include Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling, and Margaret Cho, as well as comedian Amanda Seales.
The Duchess of Sussex discussed the double standards that women face when labelled “ambitious” in the first episode of her podcast, titled “The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams.” In a preview clip of the podcast, the Duchess also stated that through this podcast, people will get to know the “real” her rather than what the media portrays.
