The Musical legend of India – A R Rahman has once again made the country proud. This time for bagging the most prestigious award from Japan called Fukuoka Prize 2016 for his contribution in Asia via the music claims the reports of the news agency known as ANI. In fact, the modest music composer has become the highest award winner from both India and abroad. Before Rahman, it was the known Sitar player Ravi Shankar along with the dance Padma Subrahmanyam to get this apart. Besides the music and entertainment sector, Romila Thapar the historian along with Ramachandra Guha the historian have bagged the same.
The Fukuoka Prize was seen established by the Japanese city of Fukuoka, which is carried out in association with the group called Yokatopia Foundation. The group honors the individuals who honor the groups and individuals known for preserving Asian culture. It is often divided into three different categories – Grand Prize, Academic Prize, and Arts and Culture Prize. Apart from Rahman, AMeth R Ocampo the historian who has bagged award and Yasmeen Lari from Pakistan for the contribution in art and culture. A R Rahman needs no introduction when it comes to composing music and some of the hit films for which he has composed music include Swadesh, Rang De Basanti, Dil Se, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Bombay and Roja. In the year 2009, he bagged the Oscars and the Golden Globe Award for composing music for Oscar winning film called Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle. Rahman has also four National awards in his basket apart from a number of Filmfare awards.
