Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s life has been no less than a typical Bollywood film with all the ups and downs. The two were undoubtedly madly in love with each other and but did you know there was a time when Sridevi stopped talking to Boney?
Yes, you read that right, one of the most adorable couples of the industry Sridevi and Boney Kapoor got married on June 2, 1996.
Before meeting Sridevi, Boney was married to Mona (Shourie) Kapoor and had two children, Arjun and Anshula. The film producer initially fell in love with the superstar and had one-sided feelings for her. Boney, while talking to Filmfare recalled the time when he was in Chennai with his friend and his wife, he was supposed to meet Sridevi and her mother for lunch. ‘But her mom unexpectedly fell unwell and dropped out. This was the first time Sri had stepped out without a family member,’ Boney said.
While dropping Sridevi at her home after lunch Boney expressed his feeling to her. Sridevi however, got disturbed and angry and hurt. ‘For almost six-eight months after that she stopped talking to me,’ he added.
Later, in March 1993 when the serial bomb blasts took place in Mumbai. Calling Sridevi’s mother instantly Boney told that Sridevi should not stay in Hotel Sea Rock anymore. He also sent his staff to pick her up and brought her to his home. Till the release of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja in May 1993, Sridevi stayed in Boney’s home. It faded out the strain between their relationship.
It is now known by many that Boney first met the actress on the sets of Mr India in 1984. According to the filmmaker it was no less than a dream come true situation for him. He was so madly in love with her that he had flown to Switzerland where Sridevi was shooting for Chandni. All he wanted was to stay close to the actress. After coming back Boney confessed to his wife Mona that he loves Sridevi.
When Sridevi’s mother dies he gave her strong emotional support and here they came even closer. Followed by the death of Sridevi’s father, Boney always stood strong behind her.
Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018, after reportedly drowning in a bathtub in a Dubai hotel. They have two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
