Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey gets a new release date!

Jersey, a film starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, was the first to be postponed when India’s third wave began. Now that the storm has passed, theatres are reopening and filmmakers are announcing new release dates for their films. Shahid Kapoor revealed today that their film Jersey will have a new release date. On April 14, 2022, the film will be released in theatres.

On Tuesday, Shahid Kapoor took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “So so happy to announce that our beloved film #Jersey will be releasing worldwide in theatres on the 14th of April 2022. See you in the theatres.” The film will be clashing at the box office with Yash’s much anticipated KGF 2.

Jersey is a remake of the same-named Nani starrer. The story follows an ex-cricketer who is struggling to make ends meet and wants to fulfil his child’s wish of getting a Jersey, but in the process, he is forced to confront his heroic past and must decide whether to rise to the occasion and become a symbol of hope or continue to live a life as a loser.

While Shahid Kapoor is the main character, the film also features his father, veteran actor Pankaj Advani.

Jersey is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri and produced by Aman Gill, Dil Raju, and S. Naga Vamsi. It is presented by Allu Aravind and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri.
