Upcoming Movie on the Emergency Period Set to Release Four Months Ahead of Kangana Ranaut’s “Emergency”

The Emergency, a political film based on the 1975 imposition of emergency in India by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is slated to release on November 24. However, another Marathi film based on the same subject, titled Aani Baani, will be released in theaters on July 28, almost four months before Kangana’s film. The film has been in the news for many reasons and it will continue to remain the same. The makers have released the first look of the leading lady – Kangana Ranaut, while even the first motion picture of the same.

Now, talking about the M Town film – Aani Baani, directed by Dinesh Jagtap, has an ensemble cast that includes Upendra Limaye, Sayaji Shinde, Pravin Tarde, Sanjay Khapre, Veena Jamkar, and Usha Naik. The first poster of the film features an old radio, which is likely broadcasting news about the imposition of the Emergency. The title font also features a sketch of a semen, which may be a reference to the vasectomy drive that was carried out by the government during the Emergency.

It is not yet known if Aani Baani will feature any real-life characters, as Kangana’s film does. However, the film is sure to be a timely and relevant release, given the current political climate in India.
