Rinku Rajguru and Lalit Prabhakar to star in Makarand Mane’s upcoming film on bull-racing ‘Khillar’

Sairat-fame Rinku Rajguru and Lalit Prabhakar are set to work together for the first time in upcoming Marathi film ‘Khillar’. The film will be helmed by National award winning director Makarand Mane and will hit the theatres in 2024.

Rinku announced the project on social media on the auspicious occasion of Maharashtra Day by sharing a special title poster featuring two bulls. The film is based on bull-racing. The film will be produced by under the banner of Nuclear Arrow Productions. Makers have kept the rest of the details about the film’s plot and other cast and crew under wraps.

Makarand Mane made his directorial debut in 2016 with Ringan which bagged the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. This is Makarand’s second venture with Rinku Rajguru in Kaagar (2019).

Speaking about working with Rinku, film’s director Makarand said, “Rinku Rajguru and I have worked together before in Kagar and it will be a lot of fun to work together again for the film ‘Khillar’. Rinku always does a great job and I am sure she will do justice to the character in this new Khillar”.

Rinku was last seen in Nagraj Manjule’s multi-starrer social drama ‘Jhund’ (2022). Apart from ‘Khillar’ The actress will also be seen in Aathva Rang Premacha and Hindi film Pinga.

Meanwhile, Lalit Prabhakar was recently seen in Marathi action-drama Tarri.

Bullock cart races are of great importance in the social and political environment of Maharashtra. Bullock cart races were banned in the Maharashtra state following the Supreme Court’s 2014 order to stop the conduct of any bull sports in the country. However, Supreme Court removed the ban in December 2021 and allowed the state to once again conduct the traditional bullock cart race.
