Review

As the film starts it has all the things that can attract a teen or a young student, short dresses, ripping muscles, hot wheels and colorful campus to name a few. Let’s not forget the extra-curricular activities that remain an integral part of the Dehradun’s most upscale college Saint Teresa. We have a new batch of 2019 where we have a special admission through sports quota of Tiger Shroff. He soon has a problem with Aditya Seal and soon we see the film revolving around four characters in the film. The script has nothing much new to deliver except changing the setup and the background. Somewhere reminds us the 1992 Aamir Khan starrer film – Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.

Lots of drama are focused on things like sports, and dance rather on studies and education, it seems that the film has created a cobweb where people come and slip away from the reality of life and get indulged into these things. Ironically, the school still remains the city’s top elite school without motivating students to be academically good rather than getting lost in extra stuff like dance and sports. Now talking about the performances, Tiger seemed good with his action and dancing skills as always but he still needs lessons for his acting skills, which somewhere seemed better than the previous films.

The ladies Tara and Ananya often seemed glammed up with their best sports and designer wear and their characters did not find any perfection. Especially, the role of Tara that seemed fairly flippant in her choices while her performance remained underwhelming. On the other side, Ananya in her debut did a decent job playing her character in a convincing way, which works in her favor. Similar is the story of the anti-hero Aditya Seal, he too remained good at the silver screen playing the character with perfection in a spoilt brat role. The other elements like music, photography, screenplay and other elements remained okay helping the film’s entertainment value to grow.

Student of The Year 2 – Last Word

One may not be able to compare with the prequel, as the Ishq Wala love is missing here since we have much more friendship, sports, and other cool stuff to catch. Well, it can be called as a the snazzier version of the Aamir Khan classic film ‘Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander’ without the realism.
