Kuwait Censor Board BAN Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet’s Thank God

Thank God, directed by Indra Kumar, has run into some legal issues due to Ajay Devgn’s portrayal of Chitragupt. According to the reports the film would be banned in Kuwait as well. The Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh starrer did not approve by the Censor Board, and the film’s release in the city has been halted.

Thank God tells the story of a common man, Sidharth Malhotra, who meets Chitragupt in his afterlife after an accident. According to Indian mythology, Chitragupt is a Hindu deity who is the accountant who keeps track of human good and wicked activities. While the film portrays Ajay Devgn as the modern-day Chitragupt, it is a social comedy in which he appears in a humorous avatar. This has not gone down well with certain Indian moviegoers, as a UP-based lawyer has also filed a complaint against the film’s makers for hurting religious sensibilities as well as ridiculing religion.

Meanwhile, if we keep Thank God aside, the Kuwait Censor Board has approved the release of all other films, including Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, and Shreya Dhanwanthary starrer Chup. Other films that will be released in Kuwait include Goodbye, which marks the Hindi debut of ‘national crush’ Rashmika Mandanna, and Dhoka: Round D Corner, which stars R Madhavan. The Tamil film Sinam was likewise uncut by the Kuwait Censor Board.

Meanwhile, on Friday morning, the first song from ‘Thank God’ was released. Manike is a version of a popular Sinhala song first performed by Yohani, who also provides her vocals here. Nora Fatehi appears in the song with Sidharth.
