Shraddha Kapoor Injured During Lavani Shoot for Eetha, Production Temporarily Halted: Report

The shooting of Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming biographical drama Eetha has been temporarily paused after the actress sustained an injury while performing an intense Lavani dance sequence. According to a Mid-Day report, the incident took place during a demanding performance meant to capture the powerful stage presence of folk legend Vithabai Narayangaonkar, whom Kapoor portrays.
A source revealed that the choreography required Shraddha to execute a rapid series of steps set to Ajay–Atul’s energetic composition. “Lavani music is known for its fast-paced beats and quick tempo. In this sequence, Shraddha, dressed in a vibrant Nauvari saree with heavy jewelry and a kamarpatta, had to perform multiple consecutive steps timed perfectly with the dholki beats,” the source explained. To authentically depict a young Vithabai, Kapoor had gained over 15 kilos for the role.
During one of the steps, she accidentally shifted her weight onto her left foot, lost balance, and injured herself. Director Laxman Utekar immediately called off the Nashik schedule. However, Kapoor suggested utilizing the downtime by filming close-up emotional scenes on a set in Madh Island. Despite this effort, as her pain worsened, production had to stop again. The team is expected to resume shooting in about two weeks, once Kapoor has fully recovered.
Recently, it was reported that Randeep Hooda has been cast as the male lead opposite Shraddha in Eetha. Sources say the next shooting phase is planned to start later this month in Mumbai. “Randeep plays the romantic lead opposite Shraddha. The makers are confident in this pairing, as both actors bring the depth and versatility that align perfectly with Laxman Utekar’s vision,” a source shared.Eetha chronicles the extraordinary life and artistic legacy of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, one of Maharashtra’s most revered folk performers.
Celebrated for her commanding Lavani and Tamasha performances, Vithabai significantly shaped the region’s cultural identity. Over her career, she received two President’s Awards, and her contributions continue to inspire generations of artists.
