Rashmika Mandanna to star opposite Vicky Kaushal in Laxman Utekar’s historical action drama ‘Chhava’

Earlier this year, it was reported that Vicky Kaushal has been cast as the lead in director Laxman Utekar’s historical action drama ‘Chhava’, which is being produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.

According to Peepingmoon.com, the producers have decided on a female lead. As per new report, Rashmika Mandanna, a national crush, has been cast as the female protagonist, making her big screen debut alongside Vicky Kaushal.

Vicky will play Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the next production, and Rashmika has been cast as Sambhaji Maharaj’s wife, Yesubai Bhonsale.

According to the report, Rashmika was the maker’s first choice from the start and she was finalized immediately after her look test. Rashmika will also receive voice coaching for this movie to help her embody her historical persona, while Vicky will train for four months to become proficient in sword fighting, horseback riding, and archery.

The film’s pre-production is already underway, and the regular shoot is scheduled to begin in September of this year. “Chhava” is said to be Vijan’s Maddock Films’ most expensive production to date, and Dnesh Vijan has set aside a larger budget to make this film a true visual spectacle.
