Shocking indeed, as we see the much-anticipated re-release of the comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, starring Kapil Sharma, which was scheduled for Friday, January 9, has been cancelled unexpectedly. Fans who missed the film during its original run and were eager to watch it on the big screen will be disappointed by this sudden decision.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Star Studio18, the film’s studio partner and distributor, had initially promised a re-release across 500 screens. However, they managed to secure only around 200-250 screens, with most showtimes scheduled at inconvenient hours. Dissatisfied with this arrangement, the producers, Venus, decided on the evening of January 8 to scrap the re-release altogether.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 originally hit theaters on December 12 but was pulled early due to competition from films like Dhurandhar and Avatar: Fire and Ash. Venus had hoped the re-release would offer better showcase opportunities. But even as other holdover films slowed down, the required number of screens was not available, prompting the cancellation. An industry expert noted, “It remains to be seen if the film will get another chance for re-release in the future.
The movie genuinely entertained audiences and is one of the few recent comedies that brought genuine laughter in cinemas. Hopefully, it will get the recognition it deserves.”The film features Kapil Sharma alongside Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Akhilendra Mishra, Vipin Sharma, Sushant Singh, Jamie Lever, Smita Jaykar, Supriya Shukla, and the late Asrani.
Talking about the movie, the film is written and directed by Anukalp Goswami, the story follows a man who dreams of marrying his girlfriend but ends up marrying three women—each at different times—while his girlfriend mysteriously disappears.
