Raveena Tandon Confirms Aranyak Season 2 Has Been Shelved

After months of speculation and eager anticipation, actress Raveena Tandon has finally spoken out about the fate of Aranyak Season 2 — and unfortunately, it’s disappointing news for fans. In a candid interview with Hindustan Times, Tandon confirmed that the sequel to Netflix India’s 2021 hit crime thriller has been officially shelved. “It’s not happening. Now I can say it,” she admitted openly. “Earlier, we all held on to hope. I believe season two was even written, but I’m not sure what the platform’s plans are.”
Tandon, who won widespread praise for her intense and nuanced portrayal of cop Kasturi Dogra, made her series debut with Aranyak. The show was celebrated for its atmospheric storytelling, compelling performances, and gripping mystery that skillfully blended local folklore with contemporary crime drama. She reflected emotionally, “Every time people say, ‘Oh my God, it was a great show and one of the highest-viewed immediately after COVID,’ it means a lot. That character was very close to my heart, and I loved playing her.”
She added, “But I don’t think they managed to crack a strong script for season two. Expectations were so high that perhaps they didn’t want to risk spoiling the legacy.”Created by Charudutt Acharya and Rohan Sippy, and directed by Vinay Waikul, Aranyak featured a talented ensemble including Parambrata Chatterjee, Ashutosh Rana, Taneesha Joshi, Anna Ador, Zakir Hussain, and Meghna Malik. The series captivated audiences with its eerie setting in the misty forests of Himachal Pradesh, where a chilling legend intertwined with a brutal crime.
Despite being among Netflix’s most-watched Indian shows post-pandemic, Aranyak now joins the list of promising series that didn’t move beyond their first season. Fans and critics alike had hoped for a second season to explore deeper layers of Kasturi’s journey and unresolved storylines. Though Aranyak Season 2 won’t come to fruition, Raveena Tandon’s heartfelt connection to the role and the show’s lasting impact on Indian streaming content will undoubtedly be remembered.
