The box office is bracing for an absolute storm. In what is officially the biggest theatrical distribution deal of all time, filmmaker Karan Johar and Dharma Productions have acquired the Hindi distribution rights for Namit Malhotra’s highly anticipated epic, Ramayana.
The jaw-dropping Rs. 350 crore deal shatters the previous record-holder, King, by a massive margin of Rs. 100 crores. Dharma Productions is reportedly planning a monumental, widest-ever release to celebrate this definitive tale of good over evil.
A Cinematic Titan in the Making
Ramayana is easily shaping up to be the most awaited cinematic event in Indian history, backed by staggering scale:
Lets talk about the Budget first, the film is being mounted on a colossal budget of 1500 crores. Needless to say that the film has Ensemble starcast. The star-studded, pan-India cast is led by Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, and Sunny Deol. It has some Global Visuals as we see the Producer Namit Malhotra is personally overseeing the extensive post-production to ensure the visual effects put Indian cinema on the global map. Lastly about the release the film Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Part 1 of this epic saga is officially locked for a global theatrical release this Diwali on October 30, 2026.
