Netflix Drops Trailer for ‘Operation Safed Sagar’: Military Drama Depicts Indian Air Force’s Historic High-Altitude Kargil War Campaign

Netflix has officially released the trailer for its upcoming high-octane military drama, Operation Safed Sagar. Inspired by real events from the 1999 Kargil War, the series brings to light the critical, high-altitude air operations executed by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to support ground troops fighting in extreme mountainous terrain.

The series is scheduled to premiere globally on August 7, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.

The Plot: The World’s Highest Air Operation

Set during the peak of the 1999 conflict, Operation Safed Sagar details the tactical air strategy deployed after enemy forces occupied strategic positions along the high-altitude peaks of Kargil.

Recognized as the world’s highest-altitude combat air operation, the narrative focuses on the young fighter pilots who executed perilous bombing and reconnaissance missions under unprecedented physiological and tactical challenges. Beyond the battlefield, the storyline explores the emotional strength of military families enduring the high-stakes conflict from home.

Star-Studded Cast & Character Portrayals

The central narrative highlights the historic Golden Arrows Squadron:

Jimmy Shergill steps into the role of Wing Commander B.S. Dhanoa ‘Tony’. Siddharth portrays Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja. It has an ensemble cast. The series features prominent performances by Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin, and Amrita Bagchi.

Authenticity and Real-Location Filming

To maintain rigorous technical and historical accuracy, the production team conducted extensive consultations with IAF veterans and families directly involved in the 1999 campaign.

The project was filmed on location across active Indian Air Force bases, utilizing real military aircraft, defense infrastructure, and rugged high-altitude landscapes to replicate the scale of the war.
