Kalki 2898 AD Day 11: Joins ₹500 Crore Club

Nag Ashwin’s dystopian sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD, continues to make waves at the worldwide box office, surpassing the ₹500 crore mark in India. According to, the film, featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, recorded a business of ₹506.87 crore on its 11th day of release. The film, which hit theaters on June 27, has been performing exceptionally well, earning around ₹41.17 crore (nett) in India on its 11th day across all languages. With these latest numbers, the film’s total collection in India has reached ₹506.87 crore.
The sci-fi epic witnessed a significant boost in business at the Indian box office during its second weekend. Kalki 2898 AD opened to a staggering ₹95.3 crore on June 27, and the first week’s collection stood at ₹414.85 crore. On Day 10, the film garnered ₹34.15 crore. Although there was a slight dip in collections during the week, the film regained its momentum over the weekend. On a global scale, the multilingual 3D spectacle has now joined the prestigious ₹800 crore club, further solidifying its phenomenal success. Nag Ashwin’s ambitious project, Kalki 2898 AD, is touted as the most expensive film ever produced in India, with a reported budget of ₹600 crore.
This mythological and sci-fi action drama released worldwide on June 27 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee, and Shobhana, among others.Excitingly, there are plans for a sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.
In a recent press conference, Nag Ashwin revealed that while he initially intended to wrap up the story in one film, he realized the challenges of fitting all four main characters – Bhairava (Prabhas), SU-M80 (Deepika), Ashwatthama (Amitabh), and Supreme Yaskin (Kamal) – into a single narrative. As a result, the decision was made to explore their action-packed backstories and continue their journeys in a sequel. The production team is still in the process of shooting and casting new characters for this highly anticipated follow-up.
