Jigra Box Office Collection Day 2: Alia Bhatt-Starrer Sees Impressive 42% Surge, Rakes in ₹6.50 Crore

Alia Bhatt’s latest release, Jigra, appears to be recovering from a lackluster start at the box office. The film debuted with a disappointing collection of ₹4.55 crore on its opening day, which fell short of expectations. However, on its second day, Jigra showed remarkable growth, benefiting from the Dussehra festival celebrations. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned approximately ₹6.50 crore on Saturday, marking a 42% increase from its opening day performance.
This surge in ticket sales has brought the total domestic net collection for the film to over ₹11 crore within its first two days. The filmmakers are optimistic that this upward trend will continue into Sunday, enabling Jigra to achieve significant growth and solidify its box office run.
Despite this improvement, the film’s performance in its Telugu dubbed version has been disappointing. The dubbed release managed to earn only ₹5 lakh across its first two days, with many screenings in regions like Nizamabad and Warangal experiencing zero occupancy. This lack of interest has resulted in the cancellation of several shows on the second day.Directed by Vasan BalaJigra is a jailbreak drama featuring Alia Bhatt as Satya, a determined sister fighting to free her brother (played by Vedang Raina) from a foreign prison where he is wrongfully sentenced to death.
The film is produced by Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar, the film has garnered mixed reviews, with some critics praising its emotional depth while others point out its predictable plot and lack of suspense. Nonetheless, audience reception seems positive, as reflected in its growing box office numbers.
On the other hand, Taran Adarsh was not impressed with the film. He twitted the review on it calling it as a king-sized letdown, showcasing impressive visual effects but lacking in substantial content. The film’s second half takes a nosedive, leaving viewers feeling unsatisfied. It had the potential to be a game changer in the realm of Indian cinema, but ultimately, it stands as a missed opportunity. The film is all gloss and no soul, failing to deliver the depth and excitement that its premise promised.
